Job Captain – Architecture

We are currently experiencing exciting growth and seek an Interiors Job Captain to play a pivotal role in our San Jose studio.

Essential Function:

Architectural planning as it relates to setting up a project from the Schematic Design Phase, architectural CAD drafting, detailing, construction materials, specifications, building codes/approvals process and construction.  Coordinate the work of major consultants and interpret their plans and specifications. This position will have direct interaction with clients on both architectural and interiors projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of space plans, pricing plans and construction documents under the guidance of a Project Manager.
  • Assistance with code review and city requirements.
  • Coordinate and lead the construction administration phase.
  • Review and process shop drawings and submittals and act as “continuity” for project-related technical information on multiple projects with limited timelines.

Education / Certification / Experience Requirement:

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate interior design or tenant development projects.
  • Professional degree in interiors, architecture or recognized equivalent.
  • NCIDQ certification/Certified Interior Designer preferred; LEED Accredited Professional a plus.
  • Proficiency in Revit, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience coordinating project resources, including project consultants.
  • Experience in the production of working drawings/architectural design.
  • Experience in design development and detailing of all aspects, on a wide variety of project types.
  • Substantial knowledge of construction documents and the ability to coordinate and set up project schedules, file systems, and budgets.
  • Experience in understanding of major consultants’ work, and ability to interpret their plans and specifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes and permit approvals process.
  • Space planning ability a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and to work within a team structure.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude with a strong aptitude for learning.
