RMW is happy to announce that 1155 Market Street has been awarded LEED Gold Certification. The environmental and sustainable goals for the 107,377-SF renovation and tenant improvement project were threefold. First was to achieve LEED Gold certification. The second and third were overlapping and were in compliance with both the California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen Code) and Chapter 13C of the San Francisco Building Code. However, the LEED Gold requirements were more comprehensive and required additional features and construction beyond that of CALGreen and the San Francisco’s Chapter 13C of the building code. Major challenges to these goals included the building system’s state of disrepair, the need for phased construction, and the aggressive schedule of the initial phases of occupancy by lessee, the City of San Francisco.
