Project Architect

We are currently experiencing exciting growth and seeking a Project Architect to work on various commercial office projects in our San Jose studio.
Essential Function:
This is a hybrid position, which overlaps the duties of the Project Manager, Architectural Designer, and Architectural Job Captain at a senior level. The Project Architect leads throughout the project in design, production, and construction.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the development of client programs
- Defines and plans design of work to meet project requirements.
- Coordinates with Project Manager on program, budget, and schedule for timely and appropriate design development.
- Manages and directs Designers and Job Captains working on projects.
- Coordinates consultants’ work during all project phases.
- Develops design alternatives to meet the client’s programmatic requirements, assures compliance with building codes, and assures technical suitability.
- Develops solutions, which integrate building systems, structure, etc.
- Presents design alternatives at in-house design reviews
- Develops presentation techniques that communicate the design concept(s) to the client.
- Conducts construction observation reviewing construction for general conformance with the design concept and technical requirements.
- Assists in preparing, reviewing, and evaluating cost estimates during all project phases
- Monitors production of Construction Documents with Job Captain, including material/product research and technical detailing.
- Organizes shop drawings review with Job Captain and determine actions.
Education / Certification / Experience Requirement:
- Licensed Architect with Professional degree or recognized equivalent with experience involving design, production, construction, and management.
- Generally, experience on large-size projects of 100,000 sq. ft.+, and/or projects of a highly complex nature with budgets of $15-20 million in construction and 10+ years of experience are required for this position.
- Experience coordinating project resources, including an expanded consultant team, and on average, a staff team of 4-6 people.
- Ability to work on multiple projects or phases at one time
- Ability to direct high levels of design
- Proficient knowledge of Revit.
- Ability to understand CAD project structure & implementation
- Understanding of alternative project delivery processes and ability to communicate dynamics of delivery system to project team and clients
- Substantial experience in design development and detailing of all aspects of a wide variety of project types.
- Substantial knowledge of construction documents and ability to coordinate and set up project schedule, file system, and budget
- Substantial knowledge of site design and a general knowledge of building codes and approvals process
- Experience in understanding major consultants’ work and ability to interpret their plans and specifications.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and to work within a team structure
- Highly effective interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
