Project
3808 Faraday Avenue
Davis, CA

Located along the prominent corridor of Second Street in Davis, California, the industrial building at 3808 Faraday Avenue reimagines what an industrial structure can be. With Interstate 80 funneling a steady flow of daily commuters past its site, the building demanded a design that prioritized both function and visual sophistication. Recognizing the unique context, the design team elevated the structure beyond typical warehouse standards, taking cues from contemporary office architecture.
The building rises to a 32-foot clear height—akin to a two-story office—anchored by a rhythmic façade of concrete panels and glass that breaks the building’s mass into a refined grid. A distinctive second-floor glass element introduces transparency and rhythm, while reinforcing a sense of scale appropriate for the site’s urban visibility. At the main entry, the design intentionally disrupts the grid, with a bold, vertical wing wall and a dynamic L-shaped wrap that gestures toward the street. This focal point adds hierarchy and creates a welcoming gesture for users and passersby alike.
