When the client, who has occupied the same two-floor suite for twenty-five years, initially contacted RMW for assistance with updating their space, they sought to upgrade just the elevator lobbies, reception area and break rooms. However, after being excited by the design and renderings presented for this minor refresh, the client concluded that the remainder of the space deserved equal attention and decided to expand the scope to a full workplace renovation that would support the organization’s goal for increased collaboration.

The new space plan eliminates redundancies by integrating once separate groups into a single-suite concept with shared amenities. A steel-framed and wood communicating stair was added to further enhance the connection between groups. Access to natural light was a priority for the design and was achieved on both floors by assembling the break rooms, huddle areas, and conference rooms along the glass line on the west side of the building. A neutral palette of gray and black contrasted with warm wood tones, along with modern lighting and finishes, replace the traditional décor of the prior space with a vibe much more representative of the organization today. The soothing backdrop is punctuated by bright pops of color from a blend of lounge furniture in blue, red, and orange.
