Where did you go to school?
The University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

What do you do at RMW?
I’m a designer but I like to do a little bit of everything here. I think it’s because I get bored easily. I get to use the creative part of my brain when designing a space, the analytical part when developing construction documents, and the systematic part when serving as a job captain or project manager.

What do you do outside the firm?
I love music. When I’m not working on my record collection, I’m often out at a concert or show. My boyfriend is a musician so whether he’s introducing me to new local musicians and venues, or I’m dragging him out to the bigger or more random shows, we’re usually seeing some live music a couple times a week.

Why did you decide to go into architecture/interior design?
I originally went to school for biochemistry but missed having a creative outlet… and I realized I hated labs. Architecture seemed like a good combination of art and mathematical sciences. I’m very happy I made the switch but still often struggle that there isn’t a “right” answer when it comes to design.

What is your favorite recent travel experience?
I love travel of all types but I have learned more and more that my favorite travel experiences are often the simplest. Each year, my boyfriend and I rent a cabin on the Yuba River, just north of Downieville, CA. The cabin has no television or cell service, so days are spent on the river and in the mountains and nights are spent cooking our food over the fire pit.
