Project
Downey Brand
Sacramento, CA
The redesign of Downey Brand’s office was driven by a deep understanding of the firm’s unwavering values of honor, pride, and permanence; while also considering their evolving workplace needs as they steadily welcome a new generation of attorneys into the fold. RMW worked closely with the firm to reassess underused areas and find creative solutions to transform the space into a more modern and functional working environment.
The reimagined design features a welcoming reception that flows seamlessly into a fine-dining inspired café area. A formal conference room, framed by sliding glass doors, connects the spaces, allowing them to be a unified, open space for large gatherings, or intimate, distinct rooms as needed. In a bold move, the traditional law library was removed, but select historic tomes are showcased in curated displays to honor the firm’s legacy.
This blend of old-world charm and modern design artfully connects past and present. Through thoughtful space planning and a blend of modern finishes, RMW achieved a transformation that embodies efficiency, exudes elegance, and most importantly, reflects Downey Brand’s heritage and future vision.
