Where did you go to school?
Georgia Institute of Technology School of Architecture in Atlanta, with a study abroad at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
What do you do at RMW?
Maintain design focus, as director of architectural design, and make coffee often.
What do you like about the firm?
RMW has really talented people, serious about what they do, but who have fun doing it.
I love the outdoors, especially remote natural wonders. Hiking, mountain climbing, mountain biking are all first loves, but my favorite is backcountry skiing and ski climbing. The sport tests your endurance, mental preparedness, and skills all while you’re surrounded by nature’s raw, natural snow-covered beauty. It’s the bomb!
What do you do outside the firm?
Besides sports, I love to paint with watercolor. I have painted off and on most of my life, mostly plein-air, on site and in the landscape. I love the spontaneity and immediacy of the medium and the effect the localized environment/climate has as I paint. I usually carry a small kit, and I paint on location when the mood or subject matter strikes me. I’ve combined painting with my sport of choice, skiing, which can be challenging when the sun dips and temperatures cool and water washes turn to snow.
