RMW provided master planning and architectural design services for a pair of high-rise life science laboratory buildings located in South San Francisco. The two proposed buildings position the existing life science campus as a Class A research & development hub in the heart of the Bay Area. The 9-story and 11-story buildings comprise approximately 600,000 square feet of space and over 2 levels of below grade parking. The buildings complete the campus open space esplanade providing useable outdoor space for collaboration and interaction. Each building’s distinct architectural character links to common open spaces via main building lobbies that form an inviting entry sequence to the campus. The building designs delicately balance and knit the campus of existing and new buildings into a new cohesive whole that adds visual interest and impact to the City of South Francisco landscape.
